Founded in 2019, KIT Helicopters, LLC. is based in Eastern Idaho and serves the mountain regions of Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. KIT helicopters was a culmination of a life long dream to fly aerial firefighting and utility helicopter missions. From a 1 helicopter owner/operator company, kit has grown to a fleet of 4 aircraft and more than 15 employees.

Our core group of pilots and mechanics are comprised of highly-experienced professionals with strong military and civil backgrounds. This diverse background contributes to our robust SMS program and Flight Risk AssessmentTool, utilized daily.

KIT HeliOps continues to support operations within the forest service, external load missions, survey, charter, and more. Operating Light, Medium, and Heavy aircraft KIT has the aircraft and team to make your next mission a success.

MEET THE TEAM

  • KADEN TOMLINSON

    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Kaden’s operations management experience extends beyond aviation. Before he was ever a contract helicopter pilot he gained years of experience operating heavy equipment, managing a fleet of Hazmat vehicles, and managing forest service contracts for the family business.

  • GABE HENRIE

    DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE

    Gabe has been managing companies and people for the last 15 years. His aviation career began at KIT in 2019 and he has quickly become the cornerstone of not only the maintenance program but the entire company. Gabe is a certified A&P mechanic as well as a CFII in Rotorcraft.

  • DANE MICKELSEN

    CHIEF PILOT

    Dane started his aviation journey in 2004 by attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He graduated with a degree in Aeronautics and went on to graduate the U.S Army’s flight school as a UH-60 Pilot. Since then Dane has diversified his experience, flying mainly firefighting and powerline construction.

  • MARIO ROSSI

    DIRECTOR OF SAFETY

    Mario began his aviation career in 2012 as Distinguished Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army’s Blackhawk maintenance program and was later selected to attend flight school as a Warrant Officer where he also graduated with honors.

    He spent 10 years flying for the Army and during his service completed over 40 missions with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and had the honor to fly the Vice President of the United States. In the latter part of his military service Mario assisted his company in their Aviation Safety Program. His enthusiasm for both aviation readiness and efficient productivity guides his vision as the Director of Safety for KIT Helicopters.
